| Avaliou-se a cardiotoxicidade da doxorrubicina utilizando-se sete cães adultos, clinicamente normais, que receberam 30mg/m² de cloridrato de doxorrubicina (Adriblastina®) por via intravenosa, a cada 21 dias, durante 168 dias (grupo A), perfazendo dose cumulativa total de 240mg/m². Em outros sete cães (grupo B) administraram-se 5ml de solução salina 0,9% estéril por via intravenosa, seguindo-se o esquema de aplicação proposto anteriormente. Os animais foram avaliados, periodicamente, por meio de exames ecocardiográficos em modo-M e bidimensional. | Foram analisados e comparados, os registros eletrocardiográficos (ECG) obtidos pelos métodos convencional (Cv), computadorizado (Cp) e pela leitura direta do registro computadorizado impresso (CpP) de 30 gatos adultos sem raça definida, clinicamente normais e distribuídos em dois grupos: grupo F (n=16 fêmeas) e grupo M (n=14 machos). Para a análise estatística, utilizou-se o teste t. Não foi observada diferença entre os grupos. Entre os métodos, foram observadas diferenças quanto à duração em milissegundos da onda P e do complexo QRS, especialmente em relação ao método computadorizado. |

| This paper describes the occurrence of cor triatriatum sinister, a rare cardiac malformation in dogs, associated with pulmonary edema and pulmonary hypertension in a 5-year-old Poodle female with history of acute dyspnea and cyanosis. The animal presented acute respiratory failure, heart failure with low cardiac output, progressing to acute tubular necrosis and death. The diagnosis was made posmortem due to the clinical instability of the dog. | Avaliaram-se os efeitos do fornecimento de diferentes frações inspiradas de oxigênio (FiO2) em cães anestesiados com infusão contínua de propofol e mantidos em ventilação espontânea sobre os parâmetros ecocardiográficos, obtidos em modo M. Oito cães adultos foram submetidos a cinco protocolos anestésicos diferenciando um do outro pela FiO2 fornecida ao paciente. Formaram-se cinco grupos denominados G100 (FiO2=1), G80 (FiO2=0,8), G60 (FiO2=0,6), G40 (FiO2=0,4) e G20 (FiO2=0,21). | ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to evaluate changes in intraocular pressure (IOP), pupil size (PS), blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR), and ECG variables (Pms wave PmV, PR interval, QRS complex, RMV wave and QT intervals) over time during the instillation of 0.5% timolol, 0.5% levobunolol and 0.5% apraclonidine in clinically normal dogs. | The effects of topical levobunolol with the fixed combination of 2% dorzolamide-0.5% timolol and the association of 2% dorzolamide with 0.5% levobunolol on intraocular pressure (IOP), pupil size (PS), heart rate (HR), and conjunctival hyperemia in eighteen halthy cats were investigated and compared. | This study aimed to investigate electrocardiographic changes in dogs aged 5 years or more submitted to two anesthetic combinations: atropine, levomeprazine, thiopental and halothane (ALTH), and atropine, tiletamine and zolazepam (ATZ). Forty dogs (24 males/16 females) weighing 5-24kg, were used. Dogs had no cardiac problems and were submitted to tartarectomy. | Estudaram-se os parâmetros eletrocardiográficos utilizando-se os métodos convencional, computadorizado e computadorizado impresso de 30 cães da raça Beagle clinicamente normais. As medidas eletrocardiográficas dos três diferentes traçados foram analisadas na derivação DII. A comparação entre os métodos revelou diferença nos valores da onda P, onda R, complexo QRS, intervalo QT e intervalo PR e na polaridade da onda T. | A male Boxer dog aged 2 years and 11 months was referred to the veterinary hospital with a history of a gastrointestinal disorder of two months duration, with apathy, hyporexia, progressive weight loss and visual deficit. Ataxia and vocalization were observed during hospitalization. The animal had been treated previously with antibiotics and immunosuppressive doses of corticoids to control chronic inflammatory bowel disease. The dog died five days later. Gross and microscopic observations indicated systemic cryptococcosis. The alimentary tract, eyes, brain, kidneys, pancreas and lymph nodes were involved. |

| Early identification of arrhythmias in dogs showing doxorubicin-induced cardiomyopathy was studied. Ten healthy dogs were assigned to groups A (n=5) and B (n=5). Dogs from group B were given doxorubicin 30mg/m² intravenously, every 21 days, until a cumulative dose of 180mg/m² or 240mg/m² was reached. Dogs from group A (used as control) were administered saline intravenously at the same group B intervals. | RESUMO Uma égua SRD, com 20 anos de idade, foi encaminhada ao hospital veterinário com histórico de emagrecimento, perda de apetite e aumento de volume na região peitoral e no pescoço. Aos exames físico e laboratorial, constatou-se que o animal apresentava taquicardia, taquipneia, hiperproteinemia, hiperfibrinogenemia e hipoalbuminemia. | This paper presents electrocardiographic values in 25 Holstein calves using the standard bipolar limbs leads (I, II and III), augmented unipolar limb leads (avL, avR and avF) and a bipolar chest lead (V10). Two groups with different ages were compared (newborn - 18 to 72 hours and calves - 27 to 33 days old). | Foram avaliados os efeitos clínicos do benazepril, um inibidor da enzima de conversão da angiotensina de ação prolongada, em cães com insuficiência cardíaca congestiva (ICC) secundária à endocardiose de mitral ou cardiomiopatia dilatada. O medicamento foi administrado na dose de 0,25 a 0,5mg/kg/dia. Diuréticos, digitálicos e fármacos antiarrítmicos foram usados de acordo com a necessidade de cada paciente. | Two cases of tricuspid valve dysplasia are reported. Dogs were presented for evaluation of weakness and ascites. In both cases, echocardiography disclosed tricuspid insufficiency and, in one of them, tricuspid leaflets also were displaced down into the right ventricle, substantiating Ebstein's anomaly. Medical therapy for congestive heart failure was initiated. One of the dogs suddenly died shortly after diagnosis was established. Although the other dog recovered much better initially, sudden death also occurred. Post-mortem examinations showed right atrioventricular enlargement, and thickened tricuspid leaflets. Clinical features, diagnostic methods and medical therapy are discussed in this paper. |
